Do you know the DPIIT startup turnover cap just doubled?

A DPIIT notification dated 4 February 2026 raised the startup turnover ceiling to Rs. 200 crore, with a longer runway for deep tech.

A DPIIT notification dated 4 February 2026 (G.S.R. 108(E)) superseded the 2019 framework: an entity now qualifies as a "startup" for up to ten years from incorporation while its turnover for any financial year since incorporation stays below Rs. 200 crore - up from the Rs. 100 crore figure most published material still quotes. A new "Deep Tech Startup" category gets a longer runway still: twenty years and a Rs. 300 crore cap. Cross the applicable line, and DPIIT recognition - and the tax and compliance benefits tied to it - lapses automatically.
